| Ok, I caved. |

*sigh* I've been shaking my head for the last 3 weeks at every store in town all dressed up for Christmas. I must be a descendant of Scrooge. Don't get me wrong, I like the part where family comes together, I love the food, the lights, and the excitement of children. Other than that- can't we just skip this whole production? I'm not fond of cold weather, my wallet weeps every year around this time (and for months to come), and then there's the whole debate over whether it is still politically correct to wish someone a Merry Christmas. I just love what Ben Stein wrote on the subject.
Still, I caved. I seriously debated whether to go with 'Happy Holidays' or 'Merry Christmas' and took the easy way out. Or, is it? I do have at least one client who celebrates Hanukkah and there may be one or more who will be observing Aashura as well. I want all of us to be at peace with whatever holidays have been handed down to us by our ancestors. But trying to address everyone's upcoming holidays would probably be pretty time consuming, take up a lot of website real estate, and, in my ignorance, I'd be almost guaranteed to forget or omit something and offend someone. Perhaps "Happy Holidays" is the way to go, after all.
So, Happy Holidays to all of you. Whatever your holiday may be this time of year. I hope you will observe it in the spirit it is intended, surrounded by your loved ones, and with peace in your heart. |
